SERDANG, Jan 22: 76 full-time international student recruitment agents registered with Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) participated in the 'Meet & Greet with UPM's Registered Agents' Programme here.

The programme serves as a training ground to help the agents in explaining and providing correct and accurate information about UPM.

UPM Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic and International), Prof. Dr. M. Iqbal Saripan said the programme was carried out to assist in promoting the academic programmes offered at UPM.

"It is to attract and increase the number of international students pursuing their studies at UPM," he said when speaking at the event. Also present was Director of the Corporate Strategy and Communications Office (CoSComm), Prof. Dr. Azmawani Abd Rahman.

The programme is organised by CosComm in collaboration with the School of Graduate Studies, the Academic Division, iPUTRA and the Student Affairs Division (BHEP).

Prof. Dr. M. Iqbal said with a clear explanation provided by the agents about the various fields of study offered at UPM, international students would be able to obtain accurate information and thus attract them to pursue their studies at UPM.

He said international students who want to pursue their studies outside of their home country would usually want to experience new and exciting environments, as well as to look at the facilities available in a university when choosing a place to continue their studies.

Accordingly, he said full-time international student recruitment agents registered with UPM should be provided with detailed information on UPM.

Earlier, the agents were also taken around for a campus tour such as to the Sports Centre, the University Health Centre, and the library for them to see the facilities. - UPM
