PUTRAJAYA – Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) signed an undertaking with the Public University Teaching Hospitals Consortium (KHUAM) by the Ministry of Higher Education to ensure that the key role of the university’s teaching hospital in providing a conducive and integrated medical education can be continually realised.

The strategic partnership also involved five Public Universities (UA) namely Universiti Sultan Zainal Abidin (UniSZA), Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia (USIM), Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS), National Defense University Malaysia (UPNM) and Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS).

The Minister of Higher Education, Dato’ Seri Idris Jusoh said it is hoped that the initiative to form the consortium would benefit the development of the healthcare sector at the national level in an effort to improve general healthcare service to world-class healthcare services.

In addition, five other university teaching hospitals that have signed the memorandum of agreement (MoA) KHUAM are University of Malaya Medical Centre (UMMC), Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia Medical Centre (UKMMC), Universiti Sains Malaysia Hospital (HUSM), International Islamic University Malaysia Medical Centre (UIAMMC) and Universiti Teknologi MARA Teaching Hospital (HPUiTM). - UPM
