Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) is an institution that leads to agricultural pursuits while at the same time leading the national green campus based on UPM's achievements in UI-Greenmetric World University Rankings. Based on Minutes 1.2 (c) Special Meeting of Green Sustainable Committees held on January 31, 2019, the Green Conservation Workforce is responsible for implementing several green sustainability initiatives and one of them is the implementation of the UPM Core Planting Mega Program.
The UPM Tree Planting Mega Program is a project that will involve all campus community either from the idea, energy or finance. Together with this initiative will strengthen the campus community in a joint effort to drive UPM as an institution that supports the country's sustainability agenda and the next World Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) agenda.
CONTRIBUTE TAXES FROM STAFF, ALUMNI AND INDUSTRY
The UPM Tree Planting Mega program requires 500 units of Tabebuia pentaphylla seedlings and 40 Cassia fistula seedlings estimated at RM54,000 and should be sourced from outsourced donations such as staff, alumni and industries, especially for Activity 2 on September 7, 2019.
The Malaysian Pineapple Industrial Board (LPNM) has agreed to donate 8,000 nanas worth RM14,400.
Green Committee will hold a campaign to collect donations from staff, ex-staff& alumni of UPM. Contribution incentives are in the form of financial funds for the purchase of seedlings. Contribution will be collected by all Head of PTJ and channeled directly to Bursar for record purposes.
Apart from the tree waqf campaign, the Alumni Center also needs to help fund the UPM Alumni members to meet the cost of seedlings.
